My talks focus on the artistry, humanity, and practicality of creating disability inclusive exhibitions, with or without regular or institutional support. I offer guidelines on creative and community world building that are both tender and tenacious.
I've spoken at USC, UCLA, the DisArts Festival, and Georgetown University. If your creative vision does not yet exist in the world, let's talk. There are ways to make it happen. |
"I had the pleasure of sharing thoughts with Laura Brody in our respective podcasts, Genius Teatime and ArtsAbly in Conversation, discussing how artists with disabilities have their seat at the table, and how inclusive and accessible art spaces can be a game changer. I highly recommend working with Laura if you want to know more about accessible art."
-Diane Kolin, Founder and Director of ArtsAbly
"I had A. Laura Brody on my Hey Human podcast and her episode was fantastic. Her message of visibility, especially in creative spaces, for those with disability or mobility challenges, is inspiring and important work... Articulate and brilliant, she is making the world smaller in the best possible way, encouraging people to shine brightly and to create from their truth."
-Susan Ruth of Hey Human, director of The First
"Laura Brody is an ingenious, extraordinarily capable humanitarian and down to earth social artist-change maker. I’ve loved watching how she has evolved and expanded the reach of Opulent Mobility. She knows how to connect communities and has so much insight to offer."
-Heather Woodbury, creator of What If and As the Globe Warms

Signature lecture on re-imagining disability
A. Laura Brody is a speaker, artist, curator, and the founder of Opulent Mobility, a series of exhibitions and programming that challenges artists and audiences to re-imagine disability as opulent and powerful.
"I appreciate the camaraderie, the generosity, the transparency, the humor, the darkness, and the tremendous light that this show casts on our glorious, messy mortality. This is so much more than an art show… It gives hope. It gives voice to experiences that are beyond words." Teresa Bernadette, artist
“Opulent Mobility... is a platform unlike any other, that not only gives a voice to disabled artist like myself to share our stories but creates a community of support as well... As far as the message as a whole that Opulent Mobility spreads that disability is something to be celebrated, not isolated or excluded, this message needs to be heard by ALL." -Kristen Olinger, artist
