DESCRIPTION:
"Le Flaneur is a Victorian inspired walker with attached parasol, cow horns, compass and a GPS unit. A flaneur was a 19th century French literary person who enjoyed taking leisurely walks through the city. For a flaneur, the style of traveling was more important than the destination.
The walker has a tall red and blue tapestry parasol mounted on its left side. The parasol is trimmed with gold braid and purple fringe and has a crystal doorknob at its top. On the walker’s right armrest is a tan leather gramophone horn. The horn is lined in dark red leather and rests in a metal filigree holder. A silver platter with a fluted silver serving bowl on top sits on the front edge of the walker. The bowl has two candle holders on each side of a small round container mounted at its front edge. The container holds a compass and the silver serving bowl holds a small GPS unit. Under the bowl and platter is a light blue leather shelf, decorated with silver filigree. Blue floral tapestry and deep blue velvet swags with purple fringed edges drape up over the walker’s arm rests and hang below the shelf. Cow horns frame the shelf on each side.
The walker’s seat cushion is covered in blue tapestry and velvet. Gold tassels hang down the front and back of the cushion and blue diamond-shaped pockets hang from either side. The armrests, legs, walker handles and parasol stand are wrapped in dark leather with gold trim accents. The hand grips are crowned with crystal doorknobs. Even the wheels are decorated with leather, brass hardware and dark red pulleys." -A. Laura Brody

DESCRIPTION:
"Nebula Enthroned is a decorated manual wheelchair with a masked rider and a sail.
The wheelchair’s rider is human-shaped, but his hands end in three tentacle-like fingers and his face has no features. He only has a nose bridge and eye indentations. His face and hands are covered in tan velour. He wears a black and copper hood with lettuce-like ridges of fishing line. His coat is copper, black, grey and silver with raised cording across his chest and down his arms. The coat has a heavy silver buckle on the right side. His pants and shoe tops are made of the same materials as the coat. They blend into the chair’s foot rests.
The chair has two large wheels in back and two small ones in front. They have black tires, rims and handles. Their sides are covered with quilted and painted swirls of black, copper and gold with sparks of pearl, red, blue and black.
A wide sail unfurls from the back of the wheelchair. The sail is cream, tan and gold and is covered with ripples of fishing line. It spreads out over four supporting ribs and its tendrils sway in the air.
Nebula Enthroned is part of our tactile display. Please touch it gently!" -A. Laura Brody
