On the left is text about Spare Parts, exhibitions that took old prosthetic limbs and reimagined them as art. On the top right is a brightly colored prosthetic leg next to one in plain black tights, in the center is a note about Spare Parts, and at the bottom right is a smiling white woman with black hair.

"Spare Parts brings together a diverse range of artists who each use pre-loved prosthetics as their canvas.

Queensland amputee Priscilla Sutton,
the curator of this exhibition, started working on a fun creative project back in 2010. It

started with Priscilla recycling her own old prosthetic legs she had tucked away in the cupboard. She then collected

others from all over Australia, America and Laos, and the result was a very popular exhibition at the Brisbane Powerhouse

that year, followed by another successful exhibition in London during the 2012 Paralympics.

The Spare Parts exhibitions aim not only to recycle pre-loved arms and legs into new and exciting artworks but also to

create an open and positive conversation, celebrating prosthetics and how much can be achieved by using them."

DESCRIPTION:

"Priscilla Sutton’s "Spare Parts" poster describes her Spare Parts exhibits. Ms. Sutton gave prosthetic limbs to different artists to decorate and displayed them in Australia and the United Kingdom.
On the left side of the poster “Welcome to Spare Parts- Established 2010” is written in large letters. The text after the headline tells the story of how Spare Parts began. Priscilla Sutton was storing her old prosthetic legs, and thought they might be better off as works of art. She started collecting other prosthetic limbs. She gave them to artists to decorate and the exhibit came to life. The exhibit first showed in Australia in 2010. The next exhibit was in the UK during the 2012 Paralympic Games, and the third was a fundraiser for COPE, a prosthetic charity organization in Laos.
On the top right of the poster is a picture of 2 lower legs and feet in pointy toed black shoes. The leg on the left is a brightly painted prosthetic.
Underneath this picture is text describing Elise Jane Carmichael’s Patterns of the Land. On the bottom left is a picture of a smiling white woman with short, dark hair in bangs. This is Priscilla Sutton. She is wearing a black and white polka dotted top with a white collar." -A. Laura Brody
