Opulent Mobility is a collaborative artistic effort to re-imagine mobility, disability and access. Wheelchairs, walkers, prosthetic limbs, crutches and other assistive technology devices are part of our lives, but they’ve been left far behind when it comes to attractive and inviting innovation and personalization. There are thousands and thousands of desirable and striking designs for furniture, phones, and bicycles. Why not adaptive technology?
Opulent Mobility is curated by A. Laura Brody and Anthony Tusler. Ms. Brody is a professional costume maker and designer who developed Opulent Mobility as a series of artworks, then built it into a juried group exhibit. Mr. Tusler is a photographer and disability arts activist. His photographs of the original ADA protests are on the resource page of his web site, www.aboutdisability.com.
Accessibility notes for the visual and hearing impaired: text and audio descriptions of each artwork will be provided.
