“Beauty does not immediately come to mind for most people when thinking about disability. Many people have difficulty
accepting the idea that disabled people are symbols of aesthetic beauty. Art has to grow more willing to include a more
diverse definition of humanity, one that embraces people formerly conceived as imperfect and ugly.”

DESCRIPTION:
"In Baxx Vlada Pantelic’s Butter Chair / Wheel Fly, an animated wheelchair changes into a butterfly. The animation is black, white and grey on a tan background. It takes 5 seconds to go through each metamorphosis and return to the starting position.
The starting point is a manual wheelchair. The large wheels in back splay out to the sides, the arm rests spread wide, the handles twist towards the middle, and the front wheels arc out and twist around towards the arm rests. The larger wheels grow into the butterfly’s upper wings, the arc of the front wheels and legs become the lower wings, and the handles become antennae. Just before the chair becomes a butterfly, there is a stage where it becomes a horned creature with upper wings and bowed out legs." -A. Laura Brody
