ABOUT THE ARTWORK:
“I work in mixed media and photography. These works are mixed media collage with a focus on layering.
These pieces are inspired by my experiences as a person with a disability.”

DESCRIPTIONS:
Going Places:
On a power chair base is a black love seat. Sitting on it is a slender white red haired woman. She wears a black bra, a sheer top with a ruffle down the front, and black and white print shorts. Her bare legs are crossed and she has sandals with thin horizontal straps that continue above her ankles. Red polish adorns her toe nails. Overhead in the pale blue sky, a jet plane flies away from us. The plane has a wheel chair tail. It heads for a green valley and gray-brown mountains in the distance.
Accessible Design:
A man sits in a bucket shaped gray chair that rests on a power wheelchair base. He faces us, smiling. He has tan skin, an oval face, dark eyes and a thin mustache and goatee. The man wears a black hat with a wide brim, a black shirt with long sleeves, black jeans and gray boots. Centered in the middle of the work is a square red sign with white letters: Design Within Reach.
A League of Their Own:
On a stone walkway next to a brick wall are men, women and children in power wheelchairs. Some additional vacant chairs are scattered around. In the blue watercolor sky are chickens, one using a power chair. A flock of geese fly on the right. One of the geese has a power chair. In the foreground on the left is a woman in a hat with dark chin length hair. She wears a blue floral print dress and black boots. On the right is a teen boy in a white shirt, brown sweater vest, and khaki trousers. Behind and between the two is a man with a crew cut in a pale-yellow short sleeved shirt and khaki trousers. A blonde in a bright yellow shirt smiles down on him and a brunette in turquoise and fuchsia does a yoga pose behind him.
Stand Out:
