"Bodies develop histories; they are tangible vessels that manifest consciousness… Hand-made papers bearing images,

textures and flaws receive ideas and actions made visible. The work is a document of experiences encompassing the artist's

mental, physical, spiritual and cultural being. Sometimes, the processes can yield chaotic results and precede the sought

after transformation of materials. Distressed yet precious, the remnants of the artist's labor-intensive process function as

documents of mobility and reify the process of transformation."

Zeina Baltagi

DESCRIPTION:

"Arrested Mobility is an aluminum cane with a concrete tennis ball at its base.
The cane is made of dark aluminum with a thick, curved handle covered in rubber. The shaft of the cane is adjustable. Metal buttons on its lower half can adjust to fit into holes on the upper part of the shaft to make it longer or shorter. At the bottom of the cane is a tennis ball. Tennis balls are often used at the bottom of canes to keep them from damaging floors and to cut down on noise. This tennis ball, however, is filled with concrete." -A. Laura Brody
