ABOUT THE ARTWORK:
My dyslexia has affected my intellectual self-image. As a teenager I was ridiculed for reading slowly and struggling with spelling. After writing my dissertation, I realized how dyslexia is connected with creativity and memory, which are both enormous assets on my journey as a photographer. Now when I write, my fingers still struggle to produce the correct letters, but my writing flows more freely than ever before.
The fingers shine, helping me to translate the light of my thoughts into words I can share.

DESCRIPTION:
Queen of p q b d
A pale skinned woman with waist length wavy dark hair looks to her left. Her bare back and hip face us. The fingers of both hands are tipped with foot long sliver rods that taper to blunt point like knitting needles. Her right-hand rests at her waist. The fingers jut toward her right shoulder. She holds a clear orb in her left hand. Light strikes the orb from above, creating a shaft of blue light from the center of the work to the lower left corner.
Mylar Fingers
On a dark background a left hand, palm up and facing us, holds a clear orb. The right-hand rests just above the bent elbow on the back of the forearm. The fingers of both hands are tipped with foot long sliver rods that taper to blunt point like knitting needles. Matte bands adorn the fingers. Light from above strikes the orb, creating rays of diffuse, pale blue green light.
