ABOUT THE ARTIST:
"The main object of my art practice is a (disabled) body with special needs as 'different', broken, hurt, minor, etc. which connects with various techno objects as constructions, wheelchairs, prostheses and finally creates one system, one constructed body- a cyborg.
In my artistic practice, I have worked extensively with the image we have about disabilities. My goal is to question the various taboos of disability created through politics, media and the beauty industry.

DESCRIPTIONS:
Exercise #6:
A figure is created in segments on a textured royal blue background. The figure’s head is a black and white drawing with horizontal and vertical lines that align the eyes, nose and mouth. The head has a golden halo. Below the head is a photograph of a torso made of molded black plastic with an exposed prosthetic arm and hand. The hips are a circle of silver. The thighs are black plastic braces with yellow bands that connect to the leg below the knee. The calf and feet are peach colored socks. Small white circles are in the upper and lower left corners of the image, and gold circles are in the right corners.
Exercise #8:
On a dark gray background in the upper left corner is a photo of the Venus de Milo, a marble statue of a nude woman’s armless torso. A gathered drape covers her hips.
On the right side is a segmented figure wearing a face harness with a black rectangle over the mouth. The left arm is a prosthetic limb with brown toned skin. The elbow is bent with the arm over the chest. The right arm is a prosthetic limb with tan colored skin. The arm is raised. The figure wears a black sleeveless protective garment with short shorts. White ovals are on the chest, waist and groin. The left leg is tan colored and ends in a very small woman’s black stocking and high heel shoe. The right leg is shorter and has no foot. Extending down from the groin is a green metal pole with a beige prosthetic foot.
