ABOUT THE ARTWORK:

Write of Passage Mixed media includes: doll, jewelry, jewels, acrylic, notebook, pen, pencil, brush, soldering clamp stand, etc… The sculpture is a repurposed discarded toy turned pen dancer. It is a model sized concept of utilizing prosthetics as creative tools and a visual of magnifying what is in the artist’s mind. Words as wings…

DESCRIPTION:

Write of Passage
This sculpture is of a winged figure standing on a notebook. The figure has a soldering holder for a head and arms, blue feather wings, and one prosthetic leg. She holds a small pencil in one mechanical arm and a paint brush in the other. She wears a sleeveless, blue velvet dress with a scoop neck over blue tights. Her left foot has a black Mary Jane shoe while the right leg is a ball point pen tip adorned with beads. She balances on an open, black notebook with lined paper.
Written on the page in black block letters are the words:
Movement across more
than time and paper
My micro mirroring of macrocosm
Lush words pour
My mind’s open spaces
I balance dance
This blank page new
Turning miss step
Shape shift into
My own write of passage…
